Samba FC Signs Bulgarian Midfielder Lubomir Bogdanov Pro Division One Player

San Antonio, Texas - September 07, 2018 - Samba FC San Antonio today announced the signing of Bulgarian midfielder Lubomir Bogdanov as the club's first International former pro division one player. The 35-year-old Lubomir played for Czech Republic Division one team Banik Most for two seasons and tallied one goal with 27 appearances. He also played with first division teams, FC Minyor Pernik (Bulgaria) and Siad Most (Czech Republic)

"We are very happy to have a player of this caliber playing for us", said John Rexroat, head coach and general manager for Samba FC San Antonio. "Lubo is definitely going to be a major impact for us and a major threat on the pitch. Our fans will embrace him and are going to enjoy his style of play."

Lubomir has only been with Samba FC San Antonio for a week and Rexroat says his talents and leadership qualities have been a positive influence within the squad for the players. The word is Lubomir will make his Samba FC debut on Saturday against Armadillos FC and will step into the teams role as an attacking midfielder.

"I am excited to join Samba FC for the Fall UPSL season and working with Coach Rexroat and Coach Mendez," said Lubomir Bogdanov. "I have been coaching and helping young players develop for over the last 7 years and I feel this will be a good opportunity to continue doing so. My main goal will be to pass my experience onto the younger talented players on the team, and help them further develop and understand the best game in the world. Of course, I would be lying if I didn't say that I am in it to win games. We have a lot of work that needs to be done, but the team has the potential to win every single game in the league and this should be our main goal. Looking forward on playing with Samba FC, representing our fans and the city of San Antonio. It should be an interesting season!"

Prior to his pro career. Lubomir played three seasons for the University of Incarnate Word and helped the Crusaders to three consecutive Division II National Tournament appearances and earned NSCAA All-America and All-Region and was All-Heartland Conference. He then transferred to the University of Dayton and earned the Atlantic 10 college player and Atlantic 10 All-championship team. He also became the first UD men's soccer player to sign a professional contract with a Czech club. Lubomir graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in mathematics. After his pro career he returned to the U.S. and got his Master's in finance at Texas A&M.
